Turkey, the country, not the bird, has too many stray golden retrievers. To help with this, a doggie rescue in Turkey got hold of the national doggie rescue in the States to see if the dogs could be adopted here. The States’ rescue contacted local doggie rescues and the local doggie rescues agreed to foster and adopt out the dogs.
As you can imagine, there’s a lot of logistics and money to be sorted out to make that happen.
One of the issues raised was that the fosters for the dogs would need to be taught the basic doggie commands in Turkish. Someone said that this is because the dogs speak Turkish, not English.
I can agree that the dogs probably only understand Turkish and not English.
However, I’m pretty sure that I’d freak if I heard a dog speaking in English, Turkish, or any other human language.
