Pam and I were talking about the “This Little Piggy” poem. We discovered that we’d learned different versions
Pam had learned this version:
This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy ate roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went.
“Wee wee wee wee wee”
All the way home.
I’d learned this version:
This little pig went to market;
This little pig stayed home;
This little pig had jam and bread;
This little pig had none;
This little pig said, “Wee, wee, wee!
I can’t find my way home.
Either way, the first little piggy went to “market”. Pam says that she realized the sad demise of the first little piggy when she was in her teens. I only figured out pretty recently that the first little piggy didn’t go shopping.
Poor little piggy.
