installing a washing machine

Pam recently got a washer and dryer. Rather than listen to me piss and moan about installing washers and dryers, she paid extra to have them installed.

When the machines arrived, the installers were able to hook up the dryer without any fuss. Pam would have liked the dryer door to open on the other side but at least it was hooked up.

The washer was another problem. When the installer saw that the connection for the hoses was beneath and behind the utility sink, he announced that he couldn’t hook it up. His reason was that he’d have to bend over. This annoyed Pam. If she wanted to listen to someone piss and moan about bending over, she’d have had me do it.

We got a refund for the installation fee. Pam called Whirlpool to ask WTF, or something. Whirlpool responded with a very polite non-sequitur about installation requirements and never addressed why the installer wasn’t willing to bend over.

Luckily, a friend of ours (thanks Art!) finished the job in 10 minutes where I may have spent an hour or two.

We’re still trying to figure out how you install washers and dryers without bending over.
