Phil had to go for an outpatient procedure. In the past, they’ve put him out for this. These days, they use some kind of “twilight” drug to sedate him and he won’t remember the procedure.
Since this twilight drug leaves you kinda groggy afterwards, they insisted that Phil bring someone along to drive him home and make sure that he didn’t make any significant purchases or sign any legal documents for the rest of the day. Phil brought along Roxy.
They gave Phil the twilight drug and did their procedure. After they put Phil in the recovery room, they called in Roxy to keep Phil company.
Phil told Roxy that he was kinda annoyed with the staff because they’d left him in a cold room before the procedure and didn’t get him any blankets.
A few minutes later, Phil told her the same story again. Roxy told Phil that Phil had already told this story. Phil looked puzzled, then both Phil and Roxy realized that the twilight drug was still having its effect.
A few minutes later, Phil told Roxy that he was kinda annoyed with the staff because they’d left him in a cold room before the procedure and didn’t get him any blankets.
Roxy was about to tell Phil that he’d already told this story three times, but stopped herself. She figured that he could still be forgetting and it was faster to just sympathize until he stopped repeating himself.
Besides, it turned out that she only had to listen to the damn story two more times.
