posts from beyond

I occasionally use a WordPress feature that will automatically publish a post at a given date and time.

It makes me wonder what would happen if something changed the context of whatever I’ve written about between the time I write it and when it posts.

Imagine that on Monday, I write something unkind about a jerk. Let’s call him Cameron. I set the post to publish on Friday because reasons. Then something tragic happens to Cameron on Wednesday and he becomes a media darling. This would cause my post to become a time bomb threatening to make me out to be a jerk on Friday. (This makes me feel better about anonymizing the jerks that I write about.)

Worse yet, what if something horrible happened to me before my post publishes. Posts from beyond the hospital bed or the grave could be considered creepy. Maybe not the hospital bed, I’ve posted from one. But posting from the grave would be creepy.

Anyway, that’s my creepy thought for Christmas Eve.

Is anyone else thinking of really sick practical jokes that you could do with this? “Help! I’m trapped in a coffin.” “Darn! That cremation really hurt.”

No? Just me?
