When Pam went to bed last night, she noticed that water was slowly dripping from the window sill. A regular feature of Michigan winters is ice dams forming along the edge of roofs. This sort of thing can happen when you have more than a foot of snow on your roof. After the dams form, water gets backed up under the shingles and inside the house. Apparently, it was our turn. We couldn’t fit a bucket under the drip but the dripping was slow enough that a towel could absorb the water. Since it was late on a Friday night, we couldn’t do much else about it. We spent the night tossing, turning and fretting about the leak, hoping that it wouldn’t destroy the house overnight.
The following day, I tried to do what I could about the ice dams. I had to dig a path around the house in 2 feet of snow so that I could use an extension ladder. The ladder was dropped off by my friend (thanks Art) and I lumbered it into place. I had to google ‘how do I use an extension ladder’ to make sure that I didn’t get myself killed.

Thank you for being youu
