there there

A bunch of us have been going out to play trivia at a bar on Tuesday nights. We play as a team, usually 6 to 10 of us. We have varying degrees of success.

To play, you have to use a phone browser to answer multiple choice questions and you get more points for answering quickly. We usually have, let’s say, Wanda answer the questions on the phone. She’s the youngest of the group (a kid in her mid 50s). I could probably do it too, but I’m not competitive enough for other folks tastes.

One night, there was a question where the answer was obviously Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Wanda’s thumb slipped and instead of selecting Spider-Man like the rest of the bar, she selected Green Hornet.

A perfectly understandable slip up that could have happened to anyone. This didn’t stop everyone from calling Wanda the Green Hornet for a few weeks.

A few trivia nights later, it was my turn. The question was who was an executive producer for Falling Skies. One of the choices was Noah Wyle. I’d seen one episode an knew that Wyle was the star, so I guessed that he was also an executive producer. They usually are.

Nope. The executive producer was Steven Spielberg. From then on, I would occasionally be called Noah.

A few weeks later, I was inspired to google this. It turns out that both Spielberg and Wyle were executive producers.

I’ll be darned.

I sent a text to Wanda:

Dear Green Lantern,
It appears that both Noah Wyle and Steven Spielberg were exec producers of Falling Skies.

She offered some sympathy, but it could’ve been sarcastic…

there, there

…and she still calls me Noah.
