The Continuing Adventures of Steve and Pam – 2021

To break the suspense, no one in the family got covid. Some of Pam’s and Steve’s friends did, but the family was safe so far.

There were a number of trips to Florida to visit the kids and grandkids. They went in April, May (Pam and Becky were helping Megan move), September for Henry’s birthday, and December for Hazel’s birthday.

In February, Pam, Steve, and two other couples went to Aruba to rent a house for a week. It was supposed to be four couples altogether, but y’know, covid. This was a great time for them that wasn’t diminished by the masks and lots of covid testing.

In March, Steve’s sister Ellen passed away.

Also in March, Steve’s employer, Amway, decided that they had too many employees in the US. To alleviate this, they invited some employees to volunteer to get out of dodge. For Steve, this meant a year’s worth of medical benefits and 16 months’ worth of severance pay. For Steve, this seemed like a no-brainer and he’s been laying on the sofa and eating bonbons since September.

In September, Steve’s brother Jasper visited Toronto from Calgary. Luckily, this was just after the US and Canadian governments started allowing visitors. Pam already had plans to go to Hilton Head with a bunch of friends so she missed out. Steve was able to go to Toronto and the Squires had the first reunion since covid started.

In October, our heroes went to Vegas for the wedding of the son of two of their friends. It had been a while since they’d been to Vegas. It was also one heck of a wedding.

Later in October, they went to Anna Maria island with their cruising friends. Since the last trip only had 3 couples instead of 4, this time it was 6 couples. Pam and Steve also got to sneak in some visits to kids and grandkids since they were only an hour or so away.

While they were in Florida for Hazel’s birthday, Pam went on a couple of job interviews. She accepted a job offer in Naples and is probably going to start there on 1/10/22. Pam and Steve will be busy.
