In one aspect, it was a good year – Steve didn’t have to make any trips to the hospital – so far.
Our heroes started the year in their 60s in San Antonio with Morgan, Beth, Hazel, Julian, and Henry. They were celebrating Julian’s and Pam’s birthdays.
Morgan and Beth had decided to move to Tampa, Florida and were building a house there. The house was expected to be finished in late April.
So, covid-19 happened. On the afternoon of 3/12/20, Steve’s work told him that he and everyone else would be working from home for the next few weeks. Pam’s work gave her a similar message a few days later. Around this time, the whole state of Michigan was put in a lockdown. They had sometimes worked at home before once or twice but never for a sustained period. Over the next few weeks, they upgraded their home office equipment (monitors, desks, fancy risers that let them stand up or sit down while they work, etc.)
In April, Morgan, Beth, and company drove to Tampa, closed on their house, and moved in to the new house.
Over the summer, Corwin figured that he’d had enough of winters, sold his house, and moved to Tampa. He and Pam drove to Tampa in June on a scouting mission. Corwin then moved in September.
Since cruise ships were one of the worst incubation centers for covid-19, the cruising folks decided to give that a miss this year. After some discussion, they decided to go to Hilton Head, South Carolina. They rented an 8 bedroom house on Airbnb. (details in https://stephensquire.com/2020/11/02/not-cruising-2020/ )
In October, Pam and Steve drove down to Tampa to visit for a few days. The drive was uneventful but exhausting. A fun time was had by all.
Thanksgiving was spent huddled up in their homes, staying away from covid. Personal contact was achieved through phone calls and facetime.
