Steve and Pam had a busy year. It had a slow start: They didn’t go anywhere until late April to go visit Morgan, Beth, and the grandkids.
In April, the flight to San Antonio had a layover in Denver. Steve got the first flight off to an exciting start by passing out and flopping around in his seat on the airplane. Not that Steve knew about any of this. To him, everything had seemed normal except that he was feeling under the weather. He blinked and found that he was in the middle of Pandemonium with Pam shouting his name and shaking him and concerned-looking flight attendants asking if he (Steve) was all right and what could they do. This was all written up in other blog posts ( https://stephensquire.com/2018/04/22/denver-city-of-the-plains/ https://stephensquire.com/2018/04/22/denver-city-of-the-plains-continued/ ) but here’s the TL;DR:
— It wasn’t Steve’s ticker.
— They spent 2 days and an obscene amount of the insurance company’s money at Denver’s University of Colorado Hospital proving that it wasn’t Steve’s ticker.
— Steve learned a new medical term: orthostatic hypotension.
— He’s fine, really. He just fainted. Maybe he saw a mouse or something.
In May, Steve’s sister Ellen, her daughters Nicola and Laura and their SOs, Daniel and Brian, respectively, visited Toronto. Steve, Pam, and Corwin drove over to see them and the rest of the family.
Pam got a fancy schmancy new Honda CRV. This is a fairly big deal for them since they usually drive their cars into the ground.
In August, Steve and Pam went on their first trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. They drove across the legendary Mackinac Bridge and traipsed along the coast of Lake Superior.
In October, Pam, Steve, and 10 of their friends went to Hawaii. It was pretty awesome. They stayed at a hotel in Honolulu, then took a cruise ship around the islands for 7 days, and stayed another day in Honolulu to celebrate Leta’s birthday. 🎂 All through the trip, Pam was taking various hula lessons and was soon shaking her hips everywhere.
This year, they went to San Antonio for Thanksgiving instead of Christmas. The grandkids are as wonderful as ever.
Starting on October 3 and finishing on December 4, Pam had the kitchen remodeled. This involved combining the existing small kitchen and the small eating area in to one ginormous kitchen. They like it.
And Steve managed to stay out of hospitals and ambulances for the rest of the year.
