As a kid, I could sometimes tell when my mother was frustrated and angry. She’d use this pet phrase of hers that told me to stay away. The words were fairly common in our area but I only knew this phrase from my mother.
Shit/Shite seems to available to most English dialects with varying degrees of acceptance in the more polite societies.
Bugger has an even more varied degree of acceptance. The verb form means sodomize and the noun form means sodomizer but apparently bugger is rarely meant this way.
Hell, of course, is the final destination of those who aren’t Christian enough to get to heaven or purgatory.
I don’t remember anyone else using Isabel’s pet phrase, but I wasn’t in a position to get a larger sample set.
Anyway, whenever I heard my mother shouting “Shite on a bugger in hell!” I’d plan on making myself scarce..
