I heard this from a coworker. This coworker, Bianca, has a teenage son, Julio, who’s around 16. It’s not unusual for Julio to have friends over to the house, especially Paul.
One day, Bianca was at home and called out to see if anyone was there. Julio answered that he and Paul were there.
About an hour or so later, Julio mentioned that Paul was staying for dinner. This wasn’t an issue for Bianca because they often had surprise guests for dinner.
At dinner, she found out that Paul was sleeping over.
For a week.
Because his parents are on vacation.
In a different country.
While this does raise questions about the quality of Paul’s folks’ parenting skills, it leaves me with a happy thought: my own kids weren’t this bad at telling us stuff.
