Rick

We were at a restaurant and noticed that they were playing the radio instead of the usual canned music. After a few minutes, we started to hear “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. Corwin looked thoughtful and then surprised. He said “I’ve never heard this song on the radio before. I’ve only ever heard on the internet from rickrolling.”

I nodded. I’d been wondering where I’d heard the song before…

Some explanation may be needed.

I’d first heard about rickrolling back when I was in IT Security. A friend of mine put up a post on Facebook about the dangers of clicking on links without knowing where they lead. His son commented “I just read about that kind of thing over here.”

Of course,  the link was for a video of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”.

Apparently,  this is rickrolling – tricking someone into watching a video of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”.

…but Pam wasn’t nodding. She’d never heard of rickrolling. Corwin and I explained it to her. I thought that maybe other folks would want to know.
